In the year 290 B.C. the Romans had established their authority over the province of abruzzo. Their demands were so great that the citizens of Chieti rebelled. They then formed an army and ambushed the Romans from the mountain tops. The helpless enemy had to flee on the Via Truburtina, and then go back to Rome in the year 328 B.C. To this day the catacombs in Chieti show how the "Chietini" dealt with the invaders who stole even their recipes and fine food. These recipes are still in use especially here at Rocco's.
