Food was good. Service was a little slow which isn't a problem when you enjoy the company you're dining with.
The food was very good and the service was excellent. I liked the seasonings and the portions were generous but it is pricey. With a discount card it makes for a nice new dining experience.

Our Waiter was subperb! Went on a Tuesday at 5:00pm, no one else was dining the entire time. Only a poinsetta plant placed in the dining area. Needs more Holiday decorations. Menu great, food great! Service from our Waiter great!
There was a party in the back area that was playing Spanish music very loud. I love Spanish music and love to dance, but We hadn't seen our friends in over a year and wanted to be able to quietly talk. They did lower it somewhat, but they should have closed the restaurant for a private event that night.
The restaurant is located in bustling Somerville, but on the times I have been there we were the only ones dining. Its surprising because the food and service are top notch. Their Pizza restaurant which is adjacent to Venitian Grille is very busy , though. Yvonne ,our server, was terrific!

The chicken with walnuts was excellent, juicy and flavorful. The seasoned vegetables were also excellent. Salad was great too.

Everything had a special touch from the side salads to the bruschetta. The salmon, veal and pasta entrees were excellent and we had to have desert which was worth the calories!
The server was excellent - very polite and attentive. The food was good/excellent. The atmosphere was so-so. We basically sat alone in a large room that did not have much ambiance. The music should have been more like Frank Sinatra for an Italian restaurant, not rap/hip hop music. I almost asked if they could change the music, but didn't bother.

I was a little confused about the 2 ownership thing. But Yvonne was very accommodating & pleasant about it & brought us the dinner menus. The dinners were very good & the dessert was very good. We will go there again.
The food was excellent and Jay provided perfect service. I have never had better short ribs and the roasted beet, carrots and celery was incredible! I have never had better humus in my chorizo and humus appetizer. The beet salad, spinach salad with grilled chicken and the calamari were also great. The tuna steak was a bit over done for my wife’s taste but if she had thought to ask for medium-rare, I’m sure they would have complied. We will be going back!

Very good food for the price. Not cheap in cost, quality, or quantity. Well worth with. But the dining area is not welcoming. Rather tired. Dingy? Regardless, the booths are horrible. Whoever bought those should have sat in one for a 1/2 hour first. Perhaps get your order to go.

The food was excellent. When we arrived, they were playing rock-type music in the dining room which was a) inappropriate for the setting and b) annoying. We asked to have it turned off (after consulting with the other couple who were dining in the room-they also disliked it). It took a good 10 minutes for the staff/manager to figure out out to do it, but they did and the rest of the experience was lovely.

There were only only 2-3 tables of people at the restaurant, yet we had to wait 5-10 minutes anytime we asked the waitress for something (silverware, water, boxes for food, etc.). Plus I’ve eaten at other Italian restaurants in Somerville and this restaurant would not make my top 3.

Where do I begin? Place was empty. There was a sign that said "wait to be seated". After waiting and seeing no one we went to the Pizza place next store (assuming it was same ownership). We finally were seated. We simply ordered sides of pasta. Waiter seemed completely confused about the menu. Asked us if we wanted sauce with it. Ummm? And asked what kind of sauce... again..ummm....? Do you really work here? Never brought plates for our bread (thank goodness for the napkins.) When our appetizer came she asked if we wanted plates... ummm....yeah...that would help!!!?? I'm not sure this is really a restaurant. Even the basics were missed. Like how about not eating a piece of Pizza in front of me while asking me if I'm ready for my next course. Trust the reviews. Do not waste your time. Do not waste your money. Do not eat here. Ever.

Food was excellent and good size portions. The waitress was fair, she did not take drink orders until we asked for something other than the water they provided and some of the orders were not as requested. One person asked for their salad with no onions and it came with onions and another person requested a side order of spinach and never got it.

Terrible service. 2 restaurants side by side connected by a curtain. Other side had loud tvs and crowd noise, bar, and tables for pizza. Took 20 minutes for server to bring 1 glass of wine!

The chef takes pride in making food the way customers want it. Ask for what you need or want (such as limiting salt) and they'll try to accommodate.

We went on a Saturday night, and the place was deserted. If there was no restaurant.com coupon, we would have left.We were right to have stayed. The food was tasty; the servings were generous (two could easily share an entrée (is this why there is a sharing fee?); and the service was excellent (the wait staff did not hover around but checks up on you from time to time).

The food was delicious, as it always is, however, they need to work on being more attentive to their dinner guests. We walked in and sat for 10 minutes prior to someone coming out to serve us?? We almost left, however, a very nice waiter finally came out and gave us great service. They definitely need a better system to know when people enter and nobody else is in the dining room, that's for sure!
Our food was good. I had Veal Milanese which to my surprise had three good size pieces of veal. My husband enjoyed his chicken dish which was prepared with pears and gorgonzola cheese. Restaurant had few diners for a Saturday evening. Overall our dining was pleasant.
Terrible food n service
The Salads were very good and plentiful. THe main entrees were well-presented and delicious.
The fried calamari was outstanding. The caprese salad was generous with the excellent mozzarella, but the tomatoes weren't particularly flavorful and there wasn't enough basil. Various sauces on entrees were a bit wanting in brightness--under seasoned and lacking acidity. One seafood item (salmon)didn't seem quite firm and fresh, although it tasted OK. (Ordering seafood on Sunday tends to be that way.) Our server was excellent and attentive.
Time for all servers to get things requested was too long. Our wait for their walk from street to back, to street was excessive. Only Kelly seemed to have any sense of urgency when fulfilling requests. Even then our patience was tested. A little more hustle by whole staff would go a long way. Kelly was consistently the best of the rest.

We were the only ones in the Venetian Grille section on a Thursday night. Took a bit to find someone to seat us since there was no greeter at the door.After being seated, the server did his best to take care of us, but he was also serving customers next door at their Central Pizzeria. I am sure his job was not easy, but he did well.Our food was very good. I had the stuffed shrimp while my wife had their lasagna - offered by the waiter even though not on their regular menu.Using the restaurant.com certificate was hassle free. We did have to throw in a couple desserts to make the $45 minimum, but we gladly did that. :)

I understand the complaints about not many people being in the restaurant, but the service was wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious. They even had bottles of wine for under $20.00, that you never see. We are not skeptical anymore!

A more crusty type bread like a ciabbatta would be great.

Food is always great. I dine there regularly with or without a certificate. It is unsettling that it is always EMPTY. We don't get it. Although when you are there - there is always loud people at the bar. They should close that area off. And since they have a casual and a formal side - sometimes one server is taking care of both and not easy to find the server
The food was decent, the service ok, but I was really tuned off by the fact that they charge for every soda served. Turned out to be $18.50 just for soda...ridiculous!! I would not go back for this reason alone.

We dined for lunch and had a wonderful meal. The service, the atmosphere, and the food all provided a lot of value for the money. Portions were more than ample for the prices and our server, Nicole, was spot on - available, but not intrusive - and the meal was well-timed.

The food was delicious. The ambiance was lovely. There was a wedding ceremony taking place in the back room, so we felt like we had to keep our voices down. Other than that, it was a very comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Food was good. We came in in the late afternoon and there wasn't really anyone in the front dining area. I sort of felt we could have had better service. The waiter brought my parents their anisette much later after serving them their espresso. By then their coffee was on the cold side. There seem to be very long pauses between visits. He was nice and all, just not very fast with the service.

The choice was a last minute decision and I'm glad we went. The food was outstanding. I had steamed clams as an appetizer and I never had better. My main course was lobster ravioli. I was shocked that there were only 4 tables taken (on the day after Valentine's Day), and once a couple came in, looked around, said "no" to each other and left. We were never offered bread and had to wait quite a while in between each portion of the meal (appetizer, dinner, coffee, bill).This is my second time here, but it definitely left us hoping for a little more.
Good food and service. Their bread was delicious. My husband ordered chicken soup and lobster ravioli and he liked them. I really enjoyed Zuppa Di Pesca, a seafood platter over linguine. The portions were generous so I didn't have room for dessert. I would definitely come back and recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant was cold all night. They kept trying to make it warmer, but we had to eat with our coats on! Unfortunately, this detracted from everything.

Service was a little slow, although very friendly. The food was delicious, especially the soup. The seasoned olive oil to dip bread in was also phenomenal.

Not a bad thing, considering we were a large group and that made it easy to talk to each other, but more diners would have added to the experience.

I had visited the Venetian Grill many years ago and after seeing it on your site I decided to go back again. I took a friend out for dinner and we had an absolutely lovely evening. The food and service were both exceptional and consequently my husband and I plan on visiting there again in the near future.

My wife an I visited The Venetian grill on a Friday night when Somerville has alot of activity on Main St. We were very pleased with the service and food. Dave, our waiter, was excellent offering options and information regarding the menu. Both our fish dinners were fresh and very tasteful. The chef does an outstanding job with presentation and taste. The resturant was immaculately clean and nicely decorated with an old world motif. The Entrees were reasonably priced and the deserts were excellent. We will definitely return.
We were the only customers but we went early on a Sunday afternoon during a heat wave. Everything was clean and wonderful. I cannot imagine why more people do not take advantage of this restaurant. com offer. We will definitely go back coupon or not!
Really good food. This was out 2nd visit - the first was memorial day weekend - so twice restaurant was empty. Would like to come back on a busier night to experience the atmosphere.
The restaurant was empty of customers and staff. I called out and no one came. We seated ourselves. Never having been there we didn't know there was a casual pizza restaurant on the other side of the wall. My husband went looking for someone to let them know we were there. It still took a while for someone to bring us menues. We had to ask for the bread and cheese for the pasta. The food was mediocre and considering we were the only customers for our entire stay, the service was unattentive.
We have been disappointed with misrepresentation of other Italian restaurants through Restaurant.com, but although affiliated with the Pizzeria conveniently right next door, we were able to enjoy a fabulous birthday dinner celebration at the Venetian Grille after some initial confusion about our selection of this restaurant. Our server was courteous, prompt, patient with the kids, and we really appreciated the extra attention. I was able to sample 5 of 6 dinners, ranging from steak to salmon, and each one was equally delicious and served with the best julienned, grilled vegtables. We will certainly be visiting this venue again in the near future just so I can enjoy the Salmon Puttanesca, opting to dine on the Veal Saltimbocca tonight instead.

Superb food, excellent service, and an unhurried atmosphere. Most often when we eat there, our meal stretches out over 2 hours without any pressure to "move it". And, it's right here in town. It is one of Somerville's undiscovered jewels. Good job.

We were only people in restaurant and it is an expensive restaurant server was not trained at all constantly had to ask for basic things and he thought veal was a fish had no knowledge of menu as well as basic animals actually unbelievable for the expense would never go back and the food was very good a shame.

I know Central Pizzeria for years. I would recommend a few things - a wine chill holder for the wine, the lighting at night all came from the chandlier, what did the other light in the ceeling provide to make the atmosphere feel more cozy. The music in the restaurant was nice, but I think it was to upbeat for a dinning room vs. a pizza shop side. I enjoyed the food, very tastey and service was great. I enjoyed my time there.
Food was blah, service was so-so. I had veal which had been dredged in flour but wasn't sauteed properly, so the flour was evident. Wine sauce was nothing to write home about. Calimari was tough. My friends and I meet once a month for dinner in the Bridgewater/Somerville area, and have yet to find a restaurant we want to return to. What's up with that?

We really enjoy the food at the V.G., BUT every time we come for dinner, the service is so very slow. Our waiter disappears for a long time and we needed to ask more than once for a basket of bread, more than once for dessert, etc. It appears that the V.G. does not have sufficient wait-staff, and the customers end up waiting way too long at various times during the meal for service. Very good food, however!
we waited oer and hours to get the food, we had reservations, and two orders of Veal were very tough. We didn't complain there, because we didnt want to ahve to wait longer to get another Entree
The ladies restroom was dirty, no toliet paper... a real mess. Menu was very limited.

Very enjoyable experience! Restaurant was bright, clean and appealing. Food was delicious, and in generous portions (the linguini with clam sauce came with ~15 steamed clams in the shell ringing the dish!). Server was attentive and pleasant. Overall a great experience!

Food was cooked perfectly. Everything we had tasted good and we both enjoyed it very much.
This was the 3rd time we were there, and it was disappointing. The special, chicken cordon blue was dried out and tough. A bowl was not given for the shells for the zuppa. This was the waitresses first week which could account for the poor service. When she split the bill on 3 credit cards, she didn't know how to divide. One person said we could order from the other side of the restaurant that had spagetti, and veal parm, but there would be an additional charge. When we went to order it we were told that we could not do that. I am not sure I would go back.
They need to improve on the acknowledgment of the patron seating by a waiter. You will sit for a long time before a waiter comes to ur table. I saw a couple came in, browse the menu, seated themselves. Waited for some time, then walked out!
Went on a Wednesday night and nobody else was in the restaurant. Made us feel uncomfortable. Food was okay, but not good enough for us to come back, especially on a week day.
Food wasn't uniformly bad, just inconsistent and not matching the price. My entree was about twice as expensive as it should have been based on quality, in my opinion. Soup and drinks were good, however. My girlfriend's entree was fair, but also overpriced for the quality. Interior decor was nice and clean, but the place lacked comfortable restaurant ambience, even on a Friday night.

food was good but they need more waiters and bus staff.But we picked the wrong night to go as it was the night Santa came to town and the restaurant was filled with kids. A little too much noise. But we will come back again.

they used to have wonderful woman cooking..she is gone and our dinners were tasteless.
Our dining experience was a bit odd since we were the only 2 people in the restaurant (which is quite large) the entire evening. I also had to ask for air circulation since they did not have the AC on.
The salmon was overcooked although I didn't say anything. The fried calamari appetizer was delicious and abundant. Waitress was very friendly and accomodating.
The server we had for today's meal was sharing too much personal information and she did not fulfil our order exactly, but the food is excellent and a great value!
The Venetian Grille offers excellent dining in a comfortable environment. There are many options on the menu, and we sampled several. Everything was delicious -- fresh, prepared and presented well. The service is excellent -- pleasant but not instrusive. We plan to dine at the restaurant again soon.
Our server was very accomodating and took care of our large party. She was cheerful and helpful. The food was basic fare and of good value for the price we paid.

I rated the service fair because they had only one server who was covering the pizzeria, restaurant, & outside dinning. The restaurant was dead, so the atmosphere was poor. The food was very good, it was not upscale more homestyle which is fine for me, but it is the reason for the good rating. I would go back if I knew they had more servers on duty.
Although the food was very good, the service was extremely slow and there was a poker tournament going on in the restaurant which made it very noisy and not conducive to a pleasant dining experience!!!
The wait staff was positive and helpful. It seemed like there wasn't enough waiters to handle the shower and our party.
